Job Description
Aircraft Loads & Dynamics Engineer
Airbus, an EADS Company headquartered in Toulouse, France, is a leading aircraft manufacturer with the most modern and comprehensive family of airliners on the market, ranging in capacity from 100 to more than 500 seats.
Airbus in the UK is responsible for the design, manufacture and assembly of all wings for the Airbus family of aircraft. Airbus in the UK has a workforce of around 12,000 people based at two sites; Broughton in Flintshire, North Wales and Filton in Bristol. Broughton has 6,500 employees and at Filton there are 5,500. More than 400 UK companies supply to Airbus and 100,000 jobs in the UK are secured by Airbus work.

The Aircraft  Loads Office at Airbus Filton are looking to recruit a Loads & Dynamics Engineer to work on the adaptation/validation of mechanical and aeroelastic mathematical models for subsequent overall aircraft loads calculation and analysis. The calculation of aircraft loads is the primary step in translating Non-Specific Design data (aerodynamics, mass, structure, controls laws, shock absorber data, tyre properties, etc) into Specific Design data (i.e. loads for airframe design) - and as such is fundamental to the robustness of subsequent Non-Specific Design steps.
Depending on your growing level of experience, it will be your responsibility to:
Perform analysis of static and dynamic aircraft behaviour on ground and in flight with a focus on the interaction of mass properties, aerodynamics, structure and system
Apply methods from the field of ground and flight dynamics, aeroelasticity and multi-body dynamics
Cover a full spectrum reaching from certification requirements interpretation, support selection of adequate methods and means of compliance, contribute to configuration selection in pre-design and setting of aircraft design target loads, perform aeroelastic and LG model integration, validation and adaptation to match experimental results (ground vibration test, drop test and flight test), support in-service aircraft by incident analysis and health monitoring
As a member of trans-national teams, contribute to the challenging task of establishing and maintaining robust loads levels by innovative approaches based on multidisciplinary thinking (introduction and tuning of flight and ground control laws, derivation of loads sensitivities based on supplier input uncertainties, etc)
Lead small project teams and ensure the completion of tasks and achievement of deliverables to Time & Cost objectives
As the successful candidate you will be expected to possess the following skills:

Essential:
Engineering or mathematical science degree (aerospace engineering a strong advantage) or equivalent combination of qualifications plus relevant experience
Good inter-personal & communication skills so as to be able to effectively interact within local and transnational teams, and with suppliers and customers
    Aptitude for problem-solving & innovation
Solid engineering experience in structures, aerodynamics and mechanics

Desirable:
Experience of working in flight physics; using engineering analysis tools such as MATLAB, NASTRAN and Unix
Knowledge and experience of methodologies, tools and processes used to perform ground and/or flight loads, structural dynamics and aeroelastics analysis
Ability to coordinate, motivate & support other colleagues, including subcontractors, in delivering multiple tasks to Time, Cost & Quality objectives
Awareness of relevant Airworthiness requirements and associated necessary procedures

Applications should be made via the EADS website. All applications are to be made on-line no later than the closing date.
NB: all roles within the EADS group are advertised for a minimum of two weeks to ensure maximum visibility to potential candidates. However, if a successful candidate is found before the advert expires the role will be closed. We would therefore advise any candidate to apply as early as possible to avoid disappointment.
