Job Description
Quality & Safety Engineer- ATC

Required to ensure working practices and procedures for the development and production of hardware and software in the ATC Department to comply with international standards, regulatory, legislative and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
Support in respect of safety assurance activities
Monitor and maintain departmental policies and procedures
Perform and report departmental checks and audits against the audit programme
Ensure the correct and effective application of the software development life cycle
Ensure corrective and preventive actions in response to audit findings, both internally and externally, are addressed and closed in a timely manner
Attendance and oversight of quality activities at design reviews
Witnessing of formal testing
Maintenance and reporting of departmental quality metrics
Generation and maintenance of project and software quality plans
Monitoring and maintenance of ATC staff authorisations
Promotion of continuous improvement
Check and acceptance of completed equipment prior to delivery
Provide quality support to bids and business improvement activities
Development and maintenance of department document and software library
Provide support of departmental product safety assurance activities as required

Applicants should have the following:

Software quality assurance specialist in safety, critical and military electronic systems
Experience of control and acceptance of electronic assemblies and looms
Good working knowledge of ISO 9001, AS 9100, TickIT and Def Stan 00-56
Familiarity of AQAP 2110 and AQAP 2210 plus Mil-Stds and Def- Stans
Knowledge of ISO 12207, CAP670, Def- Stan 00-972 and BS EN 61508
Familiar with configuration management techniques and associated standards
Good oral and written communication skills with the ability to converse confidently at all levels of the organisation and influence stakeholders both internally and externally
Awareness of the application of continuous improvement methodologies such as CMMI
Attention to detail with the highest levels of accuracy
Trained quality auditor
Software safety experience including Safety Integrity Levels (SILs)
Self motivating with a desire for problem solving
