Instructor, Maintenance Training- Aircraft Systems
Provides classroom training, on-the-job training, and technical support, in accordance with American Airlines and regulatory agency requirements to AA Maintenance and Engineering personnel and to other carriers and agencies' personnel as specified in work assignments.

Instructs and demonstrates the proper methods and techniques for inspecting, maintaining, repairing and troubleshooting aircraft systems.  Teaching assignments may also include instructing aircraft powerplant and/or avionics technical subjects.  Instructs and demonstrates the proper methods and techniques in the use of safety related equipment.  Provides training related to the policies and procedures of American Airlines and regulatory agencies such as the FAA, OSHA and EPA.

Instructor Maintenance Training will:
·         Assure compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as FAA and other regulatory agency requirements, especially with regard to safety and airworthiness
·         Establish and develop relationships with key business customers and stakeholders
·         Embrace change within the training organization by working with department managers, supervisors, and peers to assist in innovative improvements to procedures and processes which support the organization's strategic goals
·         Take ownership of assigned projects and do what is necessary to ensure assigned projects are completed on schedule and to department expectations
·         Provide timely status updates and reports on assigned projects and tasks to department supervisor and or manager
·         Engage and take on projects and tasks and promote a positive team-approach and energetic leadership style in order to drive results
·         Participate in the development and revision of training programs, material and media as assigned
·         Maintain discipline, attendance and productive participation of students during training sessions
·         Administer course examinations and qualifying tests
·         Evaluate and report on the qualifications of personnel
·         Evaluate and report on the effectiveness of training courses and materials as they relate to employee job proficiency
·         Schedule and arrange for the availability of classrooms, associated equipment and materials to support assigned training tasks

Performs other tasks related to training, such as record keeping, as directed.  Assist supervisor as directed in the administration of department assignments and responsibilities.  Provide technical assistance and support to the Maintenance and Engineering Department as necessary.

Qualifications
·         Requires a valid FAA Airframe/Powerplant license, supplemented by a minimum of five (5) years comprehensive commercial airline maintenance/overhaul experience
·         In-depth knowledge of commercial aircraft systems and working knowledge of commercial aircraft avionics systems required with an emphasis in troubleshooting and repair
·         Previous experience conducting, developing and evaluating technical training
·         Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills required
·         Must possess analytical aptitude and organized approach to problem solving
·         Strong organizational and planning capabilities
·         Ability to build interpersonal relationships and foster an environment of working together
·         Ability to effectively work with diverse workgroups such as management, non-management and contract labor work groups
·         Working knowledge of air carrier maintenance policies, procedures, and specifications
·         Working knowledge of FAA, OSHA, EPA and other governmental regulations pertaining to training
·         Ability to handle multiple responsibilities and projects concurrently
·         Must be able to read, write, fluently speak, and understand the English language
·         Travel, shift, weekend and holiday work required.
·         Strong PC skills, proficient using Microsoft Office products
·         Must fulfill FAA criminal background checks to qualify for unescorted access privileges to airport security identification display areas (SIDA), if applicable
·         Must be able to secure appropriate airport authority and/or US Customs security badges, if applicable
